NOTHING WASTED

By Lian Brook-Tyler

Barely a day goes by when I don’t recall or realise a lesson learned from…

my martial arts days

my digital days

my 13-year-old who was obsessed with myths and psychology

my 7-year-old who could spend whole days on her own combing an Ibizan nudist beach for the magic pebble or removing fly eggs to restore the beauty of a dead mole

the part of me who finds it easier to journey out of body across time and space than contemplate travelling an hour in the car or visiting a brightly lit supermarket

the five years ago version of me who was horrified that it was time to make her peace with what it means to be a woman

or the year ago version of me who was finally realising she knew more than most humans, and yet knew so little compared to the tree, the fire, the owl or the mushroom.

Nothing wasted, nothing wrong, everything falling perfectly into place.

This is true for me.

It is true for you.

It is Medicine being alchemised to serve to a hungry world.
