The Devotional Dance

By Lian Brook-Tyler

Now and then I get unassailable evidence that one of my Waking The Feminine women has got that wild embodied feeling that I’m guiding them into.

Hearing these evocative words read aloud in Circle was one of those times... It’s a poem written by one of my WTWF wild sisters about the body-led movement practice I invited them into... 🐺🔥💖

The Devotional Dance

is a re-birthing:

crouching on hands and knees,

rocking back and forth

arching —no growling,

just prowling and breath.

a feeling into the body,

sensing the sounds

dusty blackened bare feet,

soft body, sweat-stained skin

wild bushy hair—

these sensual moves

summon the instinctual

feeling the glow; slow, slow

moving as the body wants to move

no direction from outside—

this all comes from the golden darkness.

the animal inhabits the skin

and remembers its wildish ways:

with this quiet stirring,

I am released.
