TOO DEEP
By Lian Brook-Tyler
I interviewed a chap (they might not be a chap and I may have changed some details to protect their identity) for The Waking The Wild Show recently… he is one of those people that folk in the coaching world get excited about… a multi-millionaire, a creator, a trailblazer. There’s much to appreciate and admire about him.
And I do.
But… I also realised more clearly than ever that although our listeners will appreciate the episode, he’s not for them, not really.
He can’t meet their depth.
After a lifetime of feeling I want to dive deeper and more intensely than almost anyone around me, to soar to Spirit and to descend to soul, and to realise that it’s considered too deep for most, certainly deeper than most people want, need or can go… in the last few years, I’ve had the absolute joy and privilege of guiding people through our work in shockingly deep initiatory crucibles like Medicine, Sovereign and Mythical (to come, you heard it here first), and that those people match me level for level in depth, *and* call me deeper.
The people in last year’s Medicine circle taught me what I was here to do, and those in this year’s Medicine brought a hard initiation for me too. What the end of Sovereign (in its current evolution) has been is a story for another day - for now, know that choice has provided me with the most Material for Liberation in our 8 years in business, which is saying something.
With Waking The Wild people, it’s completely typical for us to be gushing over a beautiful sequinned gown in one moment and then meeting the darkest of shadow in the next, to burst out laughing at an impromptu metaphor (one about carpet burns in the last Medicine circle was a personal favourite) and moments later to be in tears about the inner child’s pain, to be in rapture about their view across the savanna (yes, Africa… there’s a web of WTW people all over the world) and then be covered in truth bumps and chills about the invocation of their spirit helper only seconds later.
The pursuit of wealth can be an interesting game, success too… but it’s child’s play compared to the deep devotion and service to magic and Spirit that’s the only way to live for us and our people.
If you’re one of us, whether you journey with WTW or not, then I honour and bless you. The world needs the deep ones, the wild ones, the mythical ones.
Thank you for showing me I’m not too deep and I’m not alone.
