What got you here, won’t get you there - but where is “there”?

When many of our clients and students come to Waking The Wild, they come with a wealth of gifts and skills… some naturally given, some long-earned and some hard-won. Those gifts and skills often mean that they’ve created lives that are deemed successful by many standards, certainly those of this modern world.

Understandably, they’ll fight to keep creating their life from those very same gifts and skills. Which means to continue to create life in the same way, a way that feels safe, a way that feels guaranteed to create more of the things they prize (which is really more of the things our culture prizes).

The award-winning financial expert continuing to do it all, despite the nagging health problems telling her it’s time to slow down to see what she’s actually meant to be doing.

The high flying coach fighting to continue to do the things that will bring in 7 figures, despite every nudge, breadcrumb and sign telling him that he’s here to be an artist.

The management consultancy CEO fighting to continue to be the brilliant thought leader and bread winner, despite her ailing marriage calling her to discover what it means for her to be a woman.

They will fight for as long as they need to - they will fight us, their Child, and especially Spirit - until the day comes when they’re ready to submit to the initiation they’ve been called to.

For this to happen their inner Wild Sovereign needs to be strong enough for this a true submission, rather than a resigned, resentful collapse.

From then on (often in a two steps forward, one foot back manner), they begin to release their grasp on the life they thought they wanted and they stop relying on their gifts and skills to keep everything going just like it always has.

This part is often painful, hard and messy - it will last as long as it needs to, longer if they try to control or contain it.

This is also where their strong Wild Sovereign is vital to hold them through the many choices in which shadow is whispering that it’s not safe to take the aligned actions they’re being called to.

But if they keep going, little by little, they’ll learn there’s something beyond the life they were gripping onto for dear life…. Until one day they realise they’re actually living the life their heart had always secretly longed for.

At this point, they’ll again be using all of their naturally given, some long-earned and some hard-won gifts and skills - the difference now is that they’ll be in service to something deeper and truer.

That something is their soul.

And their soul is the there.
