“Where have all the clients gone?”

“Where have all the clients gone?”

Many change-workers are realising, in ways that have them question everything, that what used to work well, especially in terms of what brought clients to you, no longer is.

Please know it’s not personal, it’s likely not that you’re not doing something wrong or missing something… This is a collective and necessary shift, which is an aspect of a greater, deeper arc.

And yet, what’s most universal is most personal (paraphrasing Carl Rogers).

We can either double down on doing what used to work (or seems to be creating success for others - whether it actually is or not is certainly a question, not least how we define ‘success”, and whether it’s sustainable)… Or we can pause and ask ourselves what’s here for each of us.

I believe we are being called to look deeply and honestly at ourselves, our patterns, and our attachments.

And to be clear, this isn’t just ‘doing the work’ in the way many have before, through the lens of “If I can just heal this wound or move beyond this limiting belief, I will then attract more clients and make money.”

We’re being asked to look clearly and lovingly at the wounding and conditioning that lies beneath our incessant grasping for status and wealth - and to keep looking there, knowing the trickster nature of the mind will have us believe we’re doing that when we’re actually somewhere adjacent.

And I know that some will read this and think “Really? I’m not asking for a lot… Just some recognition for my efforts and enough money to pay the bills and have a little left over. This was never about glory or wealth for me.”

I hear you… And yet, rich or poor, feeling greedy or unworthy, it seems we are being called to look here.

This is a time, like no other, to drink our own medicine, no matter how challenging and humbling it is.

Because isn’t that, at least in part, why you were called to this ancient work of healing and transformation?

Isn’t that what being a change-worker is about… Being the change?

All my love

Lian
