Being given just enough

As the healers, guides, shamans and visionaries we have to learn to take soul-aligned action, no matter what, in order to know who we really are.

But we will want more evidence, reassurance, help, praise, explanations and guarantees (oh my goodness, yes, the guarantees!) than is good for us…

We will want to be told we’re exceptional.

We will want to be told what the signs and visions mean.

We will want to be told that the path ahead is sure and safe.

And if we are told that, it will put us back years, maybe even a lifetime.

I was taught this first by the Rose, the Oak and then the animals, they give exactly what’s needed, and no more. Often it didn’t feel enough, I only realised later that it was everything.

Years later, by the time I found the right human teachers, I’d learned not to seek more than they could give (although I asked all sorts of other questions aplenty, and I’ll admit once or twice in desperation during some of the most challenging initiations, I turned on my charm in the hope of being thrown a shamanic bone - which never came. Thank God. My soul chose my teachers well.)

In my last initiation, unexpectedly the hardest and most dangerous of all, I realised I’d finally passed the real initiation, that made wanting evidence, reassurance, help, praise, explanations and guarantees, not just unnecessary but ridiculous.

The initiation was one of discovering who I am.

Thank you to all of my teachers for giving me that opportunity of a lifetime.

I vow to provide the same to the others who come to me asking for more than they need… I will give them just enough so that one day they too may know who they are.
