How to go from repression and shame to living your truth - Marina Pearson

This week’s show is with Marina Pearson. Marina guides creatively talented women who are old souls to lovingly move beyond their fear of expressing themselves authentically in their romantic relationship. She has worked with women in this field for the last 15 years, hosting retreats, a top-ten podcast and has authored two books (the bestseller Goodbye Mr. Ex and The Joy of Being).

Listen or watch on:

She supports and guides women by facilitating women's circles and 121 sessions to unshackle them from their people pleasing chains to uncover, communicate and trust their heartfelt Truth and Desires in a safe way first. In doing so they gain the courage to express and honour their vulnerable female heart, and discover that they can rewrite their old painful love story and live into their new and magical one.

Her work has also been supported by Marie Claire, New Magazine, BEST, Sky TV, The Guardian, and This Morning ITV, to name a few. Aside from the professional accolades, she loves spending time in nature, and thrives when she is surrounded by her loved ones.

In this show, Marina and Lian explored Marina’s journey of going from repression, shame, and people-pleasing to now living her soul’s truth in her life and work.

Marina’s wounds stemmed from her childhood experiences, including inheriting money and feeling shame around her privilege, leading to a pattern of over-giving and people-pleasing in her relationships. Marina repressed her own needs and desires, particularly in the realm of intimate relationships and sexuality.

When she began working with us at Be Mythical, she began to uncover these patterns and gain a deeper understanding of herself. Lian and Marina discuss the patterns and archetypes she has played out and how they have shifted over time, the importance of focusing on oneself, rather than the behaviour of our partners, and expressing one's truth in relationships.

Lastly, they spoke about how Marina has alchemised her wounds into Medicine, which Marina now serves via her Unshackled brand, helping women to find and express their truth.

We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Let’s carry on the conversation…  please leave a comment below.

What you’ll learn from this episode:

  • As Marina’s journey shows, our childhood experiences and family dynamics can shape our relationship with all kinds of things, creating patterns of repression and people-pleasing.

  • It's important to focus on one’s own truth, especially in relationships, in which we will continue to be pulled into patterns of behaviour that revolve around the other person. Exploring and understanding one's own truth is a nuanced and ongoing process which requires devotion and support.

  • Doing the deep inner work can help uncover and heal deep-seated patterns and wounds, meaning the roles and patterns we play in relationships can radically shift - and just as in Marina’s case may reveal the powerful medicine we’ve come to be in the world.
