Creating time for Body-led Movement
By Lian Brook-Tyler
A client told me that she often struggles to create time for body-led movement*, she asked if it’s OK if she’s simply listening to her body throughout the day and seeing how it feels and wants to move.
Yes!
In an ideal world we’ll have both but more importantly, we don’t need to allow the lack of one shame us out of doing the other.
So...
🌟 Dance as you’re cooking.
🌟 Pause what you’re doing to notice how your child’s warm head feels against your arm.
🌟 Get up and do a delicious stretch.
🌟 Take a moment to breathe deeply down into your body.
🌟 Bury your face in the velvet folds of a rose.
🌟 Put down your phone and roll around on the floor with the dog.
🌟 Run up the garden and say hello to your favourite tree.
These are all examples of things my body asks for but don’t listen to me... Listen to your body and you will know exactly what it feels and desires in every moment.
Now back to cooking breakfast and throwing some shapes... 💃🥞✨🧙♀️💖
* Body-led movement (the word I use for all forms of movement medicine, non-linear movement or ecstatic dance) is an incredibly powerful practice.
