Something I’ve noticed keeps coming up in conversation lately is ‘permission’. In speaking about matters of the heart, soul and being who they know deep down they came here to be, my clients and others keep saying things like:

“I think I want you to give me permission to do it.”

“I guess it’s about giving myself permission.”

Isn’t that interesting?

Wanting and waiting for permission suggests the desire, gifts and resources are present (or at least seem in reach).

That feels significant to me, if the truly valuable stuff is already in place, why the focus on permission being needed before action can be taken?

I believe it’s yet another symptom of how almost all of raised in this culture have been tamed.

Dictionary definitions of ‘permission’ mention the word ‘authorise’, which in turn is defined like so:

1 : to endorse, empower, justify, or permit by or as if by some recognized or proper authority (such as custom, evidence, personal right, or regulating power) Merriam-Webster dictionary

Most of us haven’t been raised in a way that honours, guides and expands our wild sovereignty, so it’s understandable that we’d look to others for endorsement, power, justification and permission.

So who is this proper authority we’re standing around waiting for before we can follow our wild heart and walk our soul path?

I don’t believe there’s a power in the land who can give anyone else that permission.

It’s like Glinda, the Good Witch, said to Dorothy “You had the power all along, my dear.”

What if you had the permission all along, my dear?

What will you do now? Who will you be?

P.S. Can you see why people speak to me so much about needing permission? When we empower our own permission, others will want what we have… until they see they had it all along too.

Coming up in 2021 there will be more ways that you can walk the path of Waking The Wild. It’s going to be an epic year of Soul, Myth & Magic if we have anything to do with it! To find out more go to: Go deeper – Primal Happiness –
