Why I’m devoted to living with an open heart

Written by Lian Brook-Tyler

‘Living with an open heart’ sounds like a flowery metaphor or a nice idea for when life lines up sweetly enough to make it possible. It’s neither of those things.

My devotion to opening my heart (and to keep opening it… it closes on the regular), no matter what, is probably the single most challenging thing I do.

And… it’s one of the most rewarding and impactful things too.

It’s what has me choose into conversations, experiences and relationships that are awkward, frightening and painful – even though I’m the Queen of Disassociating and I could very easily do that with all my triggers and desires, be as Zen af, and everything would stay nice and beige.

It’s what has me create the ridiculously deep offerings that my soul calls me to – even when I think “…but why me? I’m not ready/deep enough in my work/masterful enough/well known enough for this yet.”

It’s what has me write about stuff that’s at my edge, makes me look uncertain, whimsical and like someone who has no business coaching others – and then press ‘Post’ even when I know I’ll want to hide under the duvet afterwards.

(You’re getting the metaness of that one? )

It’s pretty clear to me by now that the life I’d be living from a closed heart bears no resemblance to the glorious, white knuckle wild ride that living from an open heart brings.

Living as Love is messier and more delicious than the ripest, juiciest peach.

Which reminds me of Dita Von Teese quoting someone’s Grandma “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.”

Which of course, is what makes it so scary.

But then all that juice makes it so worthwhile.

Coming up in 2021 there will be more ways that you can walk the path of Waking The Wild. It’s going to be an epic year of Soul, Myth & Magic if we have anything to do with it! To find out more go to: Go deeper – Primal Happiness –
