There’s been a rupture rumbling beneath the celebrations and fresh beginnings… It's big but not bad - though it might seduce one to see it that way - it’s simply life twisting and turning the wheel of change, like it always does.

I take myself to my tree… back against bark, eyes to the sky, feet to the earth.

I have an extra lead slung around my neck, and I introduce the new dog to my tree.

I begin to tell my tree what’s been happening, then close my lips, realising it already knows, it knew even before it guided me on the adventure that led to this fork in the path.

I smile at the everyday magic, deep love and absolute trust in our relationship that’s been forged over years, as it tirelessly reminds me of reality in the way I’ve learned to listen to.

I whisper my thanks.

The three dogs and I walk back down the hill homewards, they are full of wags, and I’m immersed in remembrance that the myth is unfolding perfectly, as it always does.
