“Be Yourself!” 🌟

By Lian Brook-Tyler

When people say things like “just be you”, what’s often missed is what that requires… Which is self awareness, healing, and individuation, not to mention being confronted by and responsible for all the parts of you that you feel are unacceptable, unwelcome and ugly.

That takes many years, more typically decades, and it takes deep devotion.

Especially if you’re an old soul, someone here to serve others with magic, and to live out altogether different archetypes to the people around you.

This video is actually a “live photo” saved as a video. ie I wasn’t actually twirling for video, I was moving into position for a shot taken by my son for #glamweekend, an invitation from our wonderful local newspaper during lock-down in 2020.

Crown, gown and twirl on, enraptured by the beauty of the moment - it was me being myself.

Being myself in a way that would have once been unthinkable, so ruled was I by other people’s views that I was too dreamy, divaesque, unrealistic, out of touch, and “pretending life is a fairytale” (when for me, it is precisely that), *especially* when I know other people are struggling and will be upset and angry with me behaving as though life is a bed of roses.

Even if I’d managed to have the shot taken, it would have been impossible to share this video because then I would have been imprisoned by thoughts of “What will they think?”

All of this is to say - the journey of becoming myself has been both the most terrible and also the most magical of things.

So yes, just be yourself, as Oscar Wilde brilliantly said - everyone else is already taken - and that means devoting to the work (which is The Great Work) of becoming you.

And if 2024 is the year for you to devote to that, come join us in Medicine to Discover Your Soul’s Purpose, Uncover Your Unique Gifts & Become Your Medicine, aka being yourself.

All my love and blessings as you unfold your own myth,

Lian ♥️
